When in Dubai... don't hold hands, swear, kiss, dance...

For years, Dubai has been seen as the more tolerant face of the United Arab Emirates, but it seems that all that is about to change.

Laid out last weekend in the Al Emarat al Youm, an Arabic-language newspaper closely connected to Dubai's ruling family, were new rules for appropriate behaviour in Dubai. Things to be banned include loud music in public, dancing, wearing skimpy clothing (mini skirts, shorts) outside of resorts, swearing, holding hands, hugging and all kissing other than a peck on the cheek. And if it sounds like a joke, be assured that the probable prison sentence or fine won't be.
