Guests at the award winning Samling Hotel in Cumbria are usually advised to pack wellies and an umbrella. However, this summer, management has promised a symbol(pound)100 refund to guests if it rains, the Guardian.co.uk reported this week. That's a big call to make from one of the soggiest regions in England.
The Lake District is currently experiencing the longest dry spell in years. The great weather, which doesn't appear to be set to change any time soon, has been great for local tourism. People have been flocking to the national parks for a chance to swim in the low-level rivers.
Hotel managers are so confident that the good weather will hold, they are wiling to pay out even if it drizzles.
Bargain hunters must surely be practicing their rain dancing techniques for the day before going home. more blog posts
