My Magic Thumb

Fancy a scenic route to the World Cup? Hitch hiking expert, Andrew Grady, is taking the long road to South Africa this year. Starting outside his home in West London, Andrew and cameraman, Simon Wilson, are heading to S.A. via Andrew's magic thumb - the goal (hyuck hyuck) is to get there in time to watch England take home the most coveted trophy in sport.

Having hitched and traveled throughout the globe already, Andrew is drawing from his experience to pull off the most fantastical journey there.

His vision for 'The Chronicles of Me and ' is to "use hitching as a vehicle to uniquely display the varying delights of humanity, yet ultimately draw upon how similar we all are."

You might say this is a suicide plea, but Andrew is tremendously positive -and his reasoning is sound. He reckons that anyone willing to give a perfect stranger a lift is more than likely kind hearted, less cynical than most, or doing it purely for company - not something to be afraid of. There is the unmentioned risk of psychos picking you up and wanting your body parts for personal experiments, but I'm not the expert here.

He's already 5 weeks in, and the material so far is entertaining, funny and interesting all at the same time. He's love for people and adventure really comes through in the clips and posts. Andrew and Simon are in Mali right now, rubbing shoulders with musician Vieux Farka Toure (son of Malian guitar-hero Ali Farka Toure), riding in sketchy buses and teaching local kids to speak Geordie.

Check out to follow all the action.
