Brighton Festival 2010

If you thought the rather artsy Brighton Festival couldn't get any better, think again: this year, Brian Eno is guest curating. That's right, the legendary Roxy Music keyboardist and general music hero has put together a 23-day festival that takes in music, theatre, art, literary events, dance and debate.

The 2010 Brighton Festival marks the 44th outing for the seaside event and it seems to get better with age. Highlights include Eno's audio installation (77 Million Paintings), a performance of his seminal album Apollo by the Icebreaker ensemble and BJ Cole, comedy from Reggie Watts, children's theatre and storytelling, Martin Amis on his new novel, music from Afro-beat musicians Tony Allen and Seun Kuti and free outdoor performance and parades.

We assure you this is just the tip of the cultural iceberg! Pick an event (only a handful are sold out) and head down to Brighton for the day, with the weather looking up, you may just enjoy a glorious day at the beach well before the summer rush.

Brighon Festival, May 1 to 23, various venues and prices (including free events). For more info see .
