Bargain breaks ... (more) Easter Holidays

It's amazing how quickly you get used to being on holiday, isn't it? Only four days off ... and now I'm not quite sure what day of the week it is. Still, the good news is that it's only 13 working days until the next bank holiday: May 4. And so this week we're taking a look at what's on offer in the UK over the bank holiday (you never know, it might be sunny) - and next week we'll look to foreign shores. Here goes:

The Coppermines Lakes and Cottages

is offering self-catering cottages in the Lake District (in the Coppermines and Coniston district) for the bank holiday weekend (May 1-4). The Millers Cottage (sleeps 2-5) is £290 for three nights, Daisy Cottage (sleeps 2-6) is £310, and No3 Dixon Ground (sleeps 2-8) is £475. For cottages to rent across the country try Country Cottages Online - prices are available on request.

There are lots of hotel deals out there, too:Best Western Gonville Hotel, in Cambridge, is offering May Bank Holiday breaks starting from £109 per person for three nights; www.englishinns.co.uk has a selection of offers, including three nights' half-board at Bodelwyddan Castle, Denbighshire, from £287.10 per person, three nights' half-board in Alvaston Hall, Cheshire, from £236. 23 per person, and three nights' half-board in Bembridge Coast, on the Isle of Wight, from £239 per person.

There are plenty of camping options too: a good general starting point is www.ukcampsite.co.uk but if you need more 'direction' then try Keycamps, which organises camping holidays in Scotland, Wales, the Lake District, North Yorkshire, the New Forest and Forest of Dean, and includes 'Ranger Activities' (guided walks), and they put up your tent for you. Prices start from £100 for a weekend.

Finally, it doesn't quite last the whole weekend (you get Monday to recover) - but the Homecoming Festival, in Irving Bay, Ayreshire, has a great dance line up: Reverend and the Makers, Tom and Gary (Snow Patrol), Hitchcock, Soul II Soul sound system, Bob Sinclair, Josh Wink, Lisa Lashes, etc, etc. A weekend ticket is £89; £99 including camping.

That's it for this week - more May Bank Holiday suggestions on Monday...
