A sleepover at Old Trafford

Pop up boutiques, pop up restaurants and now... pop up hotels. Well, pop up hotel rooms to be precise. And not just any hotel rooms, but exclusive rooms pitched in some of the nation's most popular tourist attractions: Manchester's Old Trafford stadium; Blue Reef Aquarium in Hastings and Cornwall's Eden Project.

Manchester: Old Trafford

The booking website Laterooms.com came up with the plan after polling its customers to see where they'd most like to spend a night. The suggestions were a real mixed bag... having a kip on the hallowed grounds of Old Trafford sounds amazing, but who on earth would want to sleep at Downing Street, so close to a likely restless Gordie? Still, the three still up for grabs (a night at The London Dungeon was won last night) are pretty cool and you can enter the competition here.

If you don't win, it turns out that a lot of UK attractions offer a bed for the night: try Kew Gardens for sleepovers; or the Science Museum in London. Even lighthouses are hospitable with Corsewall Lighthouse in Stranraer in Scotland one of many working lighthouses accommodating guests. Is there anywhere out of bounds?
