Travel Insurance for Allergies

Travelling should be a breath of fresh air, but allergies may get in the way of a good time. With all our travel insurance policies, you are covered for all allergies that don't require prescription treatment, at no extra cost.

There are many allergies that are covered without the need to take out extra cover. Some of these are...

  • Hay Fever
  • Eczema
  • Sleep Apnoea
  • And other common ailments

If you have asthma, it's worth looking at our easy extra cover for asthma travel insurance.

Allergies that require prescription medication

If the treatment you receive for your allergy requires you to have a prescription, such as an EpiPen, you will be best covered by adding extra medical cover to your policy.

To add extra cover, just complete the quick and easy medical screening process after getting your initial quote and answer the simple questions. You will simply be asked what your allergy is and how you're being treated for it. You will then be quoted a price to add the additional cover to your policy and taken to the final payment screen.

Don't want to add extra protection for your allergies?

If you have a medical condition we strongly advise that you declare it. However, if you do not wish to add the extra cover, you can choose to exclude cover for allergies from your policy after you have completed the easy online medical screening process.

Experts' Top Tip - Travelling with the worry of what happens when you ingest mere trace elements of a nut, is not fun at all. Essential Travel provides cover for Nut Allergies at no extra cost.

  • Medical Expenses cover ranging from £2.5 million to £10 million

Add Extra Cover

You can customise your policy further with pre-existing medical condition cover, sports and a number of other specialist add-ons.

Do You Need to Declare a Medical Condition?

If you have a pre-existing medical condition it’s vital that you declare it or you could invalidate your entire policy. Insurers don’t like to think that you’ve hidden things from them and you may be surprised to find out that many common medical conditions such as allergies can be added without any additional cost. What’s more, you even have the option to declare a condition but then exclude it from your policy. What this means is that you’ve told your insurer about your condition but decided not to cover it, so you will be covered medically for anything unrelated to that condition.

Do You Need Extra Sports or Specialist Cover?

A decent policy will include cover for many sporty or adventure activities as standard. However the more adventurous or dangerous the activity, like winter sports, the more likely it is that you will need to purchase additional sports insurance. You can customise your policy further a number of other specialist add-ons.
