We've gone on holiday by mistake

I went on holiday in the Lake District once. It was beautiful, but blimey it was cold. We stayed at my friend's uncle's house in the middle of nowhere where the chief attraction was that it was (allegedly) haunted. And one night we watched Withnail and I. It's the only time I've seen it I didn't think it was that funny.

I mention this because the Cumbrian farmhouse used in Bruce Robinson's story of two struggling actors on holiday in the Lake District (by mistake) - starring Richard E Grant and Paul McGann - has just been sold. Rumour has it that Kate Moss and Chris Evans both put in bids, but local publican Seb Hindley snapped up Sleddale Hall, near Shap, £265,000. He plans to restore it for visitors, which I think is a lovely idea.
