Improv Everywhere: An Unexpected Welcome

The art performance group Improv Everywhere specialises in putting on performances in ordinary situations. At train stations, on the subway... and, recently, at New York's JFK airport. Their 'mission' was to welcome home total strangers. They found out people's names from car driver signs, and painted huge personalised banners, waved balloons, and greeted strangers with bunches of flowers:

It's pretty fun, but the best bits are the passengers' reactions. Overall they seemed to take it quite well, but a quick straw poll (of two) of my colleagues here at EssentialTravel.co.uk revealed that if it had happened to them, they would have been horrified... which amazed me. I've travelled so much on my own - and airports are such emotional places - I think I'd welcome anyone who looked pleased to see me.
