Would You Like A Bride With Those Fries?

From 1 January 2011 Hong Kong will become the first city in the world to host weddings at McDonald's.

Instead of toasting to your nuptials with Crystal, you can toast with a soft drink, courtesy of MacDonald's Hong Kong.

For just a few thousand Hong Kong dollars you can shower every part of your wedding with the MacDonald's treatment - a baked apple pie wedding cake, a wedding dress made out of party balloons, kiddie pack wedding favours, and of course, fine place settings and catering by the hosts themselves, McDonald's.

According to McDonald's Hong Kong director of corporate communications and relations, Helen Cheung, the idea initially came about when one couple who met at McDonald's held their wedding party at the Admiralty branch in Hong Kong earlier this year.

In addition to weddings, McDonald's Hong Kong will also be accepting bookings for engagement parties as well as wedding anniversaries.

So far, McDonald's nuptial parties are only available at their Admiralty, Mei Foo and Smithfield branches. Management however may consider other venues in the future if the McD's wedding phenomenon becomes a hit.

Concerned about your wedding's evening do? McDonald's Hong Kong will throw in some complementary Chinese wedding games. The all time favourite? Getting newly-weds to nibble on either end of a McD's French fry until they eventually join the centre and kiss . . .
