The Travelodge at Gatwick (formerly the Mercure hotel Gatwick) is not only large enough to allow for last-minute bookings, but also affordable enough for even the most restricted of budgets. It's one of the cheapest hotels at Gatwick airport and the restaurant and bar are extremely well-priced. There are also rooms spacious enough to accommodate four adults comfortably.
The Travelodge at Gatwick Airport, Lowfield Heath in Crawley is a good choice if you're travelling to the airport by car. It's just a few minutes from junction 10 of the M23 and has an undercover on-site car park where you can park overnight. If you need parking while you're away, you can book your car into one of the Long Stay car parks at Gatwick airport, or into Airparks, a secured car park just outside the airport.
If you’re coming by public transport, Gatwick airport train station is an easy bus ride away and connected to London by regular trains. In the morning, the hotel shuttle bus will take you back to the airport. You need bus G23, which leaves from outside reception and takes 15 minutes to reach the North terminal, and 20 to reach the South terminal.
The Travelodge has a bar and restaurant with a simple, classic pub grub-style menu, which is served from 6.30pm to 10pm. There’s also free wifi in the bar and restaurant.

The hotel we stayed at was lovely and clean. All the staff we interacted with were pleasant and polite. The bedroom was very spacious with comfy beds for us all. We didn't have any issues at finding a parking space in the car park but surely the cost should be reimbursed if you stay at the hotel.

Families - The Travelodge’s family rooms are very spacious, and can actually accommodate four adults, so older children will be more than comfortable. Children are also allowed in the bar at any time.
Drinks - The lively bar offers a drinks promotion each month, making the Travelodge one of the most affordable places to start your holiday with a glass of something tasty.
Value - Not only are the rooms great value, the Travelodge also offers an affordable food menu and free wifi in the bar.
Groups - You won’t find many hotels willing to let four adults share one room, and at the Travelodge you’ll still get a comfortable night’s sleep if you do decide to share.
Park overnight at the hotel (this costs £15) and drive to Purple Parking in the morning - you'll need to leave your keys as they'll park your car for you.
To get to and from the car park you can use the shuttle bus which is included in the price.
Hotel location:
The Travelodge Plus is a 7-minute drive from the north terminal and a 9-minute drive to the south terminal. Driving instructions and a postcode for satnavs will be on your confirmation.Check-in is at 15:00 and check-out is at 12:00. There are self-service machines at reception - give these a try for a faster check-in.
Car park location:
Drive to the Travelodge Plus and park in the hotel's car park overnight. The hotel don't own the car park, so overnight parking costs £15 per car.The car park is regularly patrolled and accessible spaces are available.
On the morning of your flight, drive to Purple Parking - 15 minutes from the airport by free shuttle bus.

You can get a selected main and soft drink for £9.95, or any 2 courses plus a drink for just £12.95 per person.There's a menu for little ones too, with 2 courses for just £4.95 per child.
Food is available every day from 17:00 until 22:00.
Bars:
The cafe bar also serves hot and soft drinks, beer, wine and spirits from 08:00 until 23:00.Breakfast:
Fill up on breakfast to save spending at the airport - it's just £7.95 per person for an English buffet or £5.75 for a continental one.Even better, 2 children under 16 can eat free with each paying adult!
Breakfast is served from 07:00 until 10:00 during the week and from 08:00 until 11:00 at weekends.

- Purple Parking car park has accessible shuttle buses and parking bays. If you need to park in one of these bays make sure you let reception know so they can ensure your car is returned there when you get back.
