Summary: All UK airports are currently open. However, Heathrow airport is operating a reduced flight schedule and all other UK airports are continuing to be affected by delays and cancellation due to weather not just in the UK, but across mainland Europe. Long haul inbound flights to the UK are also affected.

Edinburgh Airport is closed until 6pm today. With snow expected to fall in the capital for the rest of the day, passengers are advised to check their flight details with their airline before heading to the airport.

Southeastern has announced that most of its services are suspended, although it will attempt to run a limited service on its metro and mainline routes. Commuters are being advised to consider whether they need to travel at this time. You can learn more about its contingency timeable service here.
Eurostar will operate a significantly reduced service until Sunday, 5 December, while trains will also be subject to delays of up to 90 minutes. There will be no more tickets on sale until Monday at the earliest. Passengers are advised to postpone their journey if it is not essential. Road disruptions:
The following roadways in Scotland are affected by snow and icy weather:
- The A90 southbound between Forfar and Dundee is closed - traffic is being diverted via the A92
- The M90 is closed south of Perth and at Friarton Bridge
- In West Lothian, the M8 westbound is closed at junction 3 Livingston
- The M8 has been reduced to one lane in some places between West Lothian and Glasgow
- The M8 is also down to one lane in some areas on approach to Glasgow city centre
- Expect slow traffic on the M77 heading towards Glasgow
- The Edinburgh City Bypass is covered in thick snow, causing severe traffic delays
- In the Borders, the A1 is closed in both directions at Berwick Upon Tweed and the A68 is closed at Soutra

Rail disruptions:
Unfavourable weather has also halted train services in the following areas:
- The Glasgow-Edinburgh railway service has been reduced to twice an hour
- Trains from Glasgow Queen Street to Edinburgh at 15 and 45 minutes past each hour have been put on hold
- The train service from Edinburgh to Glasgow Queen Street at 00 and 30 minutes past each hour have been halted
- Trains between Perth and Aberdeen are also disrupted

Record low cold temperatures:
The Met Office has announced severe weather warnings, including heavy snow and widespread ice for eastern England from the Borders down to the East Midlands, and for eastern and central Scotland.
Snow is also falling in Northern Ireland and north Norfolk, and has continued southwards, hitting London and the south east region.
According to the Met Office, these low temperatures are the coldest on record for November, with thermometers reading -20C in some parts of the UK.
