Hajj To Mecca And Saudi Arabia Travel - Advice And Information

Summary: Britons going on the Hajj to Mecca, Saudi Arabia are being urged by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office to prepare adequately before their trip to ensure their safety. The FCO is urging pilgrims to ensure that they have adequate travel insurance and have had the required vaccinations before travelling.
Important Information And Advice
Please note:
- It is compulsory for travellers on the Hajj to have a Meningococcal Meningitis vaccination certificate in order to obtain a Hajj visa
- It is strongly recommended that travellers on the Hajj have a seasonal Influenza vaccination before leaving on their trip
- Take care of your travel documents while in Saudi Arabia
The FCO will be sending a delegation of consular staff to assist pilgrims if needed. The majority of consular assistance required in the past was for the replacement of lost travel documents. Take particular care of these documents, including flight tickets and other valuables.
