More On Windsurfing Insurance
Travelling abroad to get the best waves for your ultimate windsurfing experience may be a dream come true, but don't forget to bring your Windsurfing Travel Insurance along with you.
Windsurfing is relatively safe when compared to most other water-sports. But, as with all water-sports, the risk of injury is always present. Treatment abroad could set you back thousands of pounds, leaving you out of pocket before your holiday even begins.
For this reason, we recommend you purchase adequate travel insurance so that you can fully enjoy the sport as well as your holiday with complete peace of mind.
Windsurfing (inside territorial waters; on an amateur, incidental basis) is covered under our Grade 1 sports policy free of charge, as the risk of injury is relatively low when partaking in the sport once-off.
What You Need To Know
Injuries associated with windsurfing are often caused by bad falls and/or collisions with objects in the water, other riders, swimmers, and boats.
Injuries that you may sustain vary from bruises to fractures and broken bones depending on the extent of the fall or collision. We therefore strongly advise against the following persons participating in this sport:
- Young children
- Pregnant women
- Elderly persons
- Persons suffering from severe back or neck problems
- Persons that have previously suffered a severe injury
Windsurfing Safety Tips
Windsurfing is a potentially hazardous sport. Not only do we urge you obtain adequate travel insurance, we also advise the following safety tips as an added precautionary measure:
- Make sure you have checked the weather report before trying the waters
- No matter how adept you are at water-sports, when venturing on water, make sure you wear a life-jacket at all times.
- Make sure you apply sunscreen with UVA and UVB protection before and after entering the water.
Please Note: Essential Travel will not cover persons that fail to adhere to the necessary safety precautions and/or are found guilty of irresponsible play.
