What is the Use Your Head campaign about?
Last year, 40% of our winter sports customers told us that they weren't intending to wear a helmet whilst on the slopes. We were shocked: helmets have been scientifically proven to save lives!
In order to help raise awareness of the life-saving capabilities helmets can provide and to make it as easy as possible for you to Use Your Head, we've teamed up with Ellis Brigham, Headway and Tail-wags to ensure 'tis the season we all ski safely.

Why is this campaign important to Essential Travel?
Our spokesperson Stuart Bensusan says...
"Following an increasing percentage of claims on our winter sports insurance for head injuries, and high profile accidents such as Natasha Richardson, we felt the need to start raising awareness about better ski safely within the ski industry.
This campaign is all about raising awareness and encouraging consumers to ski safely by incentivising skiers willing to wear helmets with discounted insurance. We've also brought in partners to provide special offers on helmets.
We are not forcing people to wear a helmet, nor are we campaigning for helmets to be compulsory. We just see some extremely nasty injury claims and consequently are in a good position to judge the risk involved in skiing without a helmet.
Customers can take advantage of Essential Travel's Use Your Head campaign and receive a 15% discount on insurance policies if they state they will be wearing a helmet. The true aim of the campaign is essentially to raise awareness with the British public; whether they opt to wear helmets is truly down to them.
To show our commitment to the cause, we will be donating £1 - from the cost of every policy sold to willing helmet wearers - to Headway. We managed to raise over £5000 last year and we're hoping to raise even more this season".
