Choose the right sports cover level
Holidays are a great time to get active and over 100 sports are covered as Standard on all of our policies at no extra cost. However, for the more adventurous activities, extra sports cover (referred to as Sports Grades) will need to be added to your Single Trip, Annual Multi Trip or Backpacker policy so that you can have fun the safe way.
What are Sports Grades?
For the purpose of our policies, sports and hazardous activities are assigned to a Sports Grade which corresponds to the level of risk involved. The more extreme your sport, the higher the Sports Grade you need.
- Sports Grade 1 - Activities like cycling, jet-skiing and kayaking don't require extra cover, we cover 110 sports at no extra cost
- Sports Grade 2 - Activities like bungee jumping, safari and motorcycling (and more) require extra sports cover to be added to your policy
- Sports Grade 3 - Activities like paragliding, black water rafting, tandem sky diving require extra sports cover to be added to your policy
- Sports Grade 4 - High risk activities such as off piste skiing, canyoning and rock climbing require the highest level of sports cover

Sports Injuries Medical Cover
Providing that you have the correct Sports Grade for the sport you're doing and that you're taking part in the sport in a non-professional capacity you will be covered fully for any subsequent medical costs in the event of an injury.

Cheap. But not nasty!
I required travel insurance for my 13 year old daughters who are travelling unaccompanied to the USA later this year. Essential was one of the few companies I found that caters for that market and at a surprising low price. The cover is more than adequate although it has to be said that figures for the excess waivers were not so readily traceable. But got that I'd award it five stars. If we have to make a claim this review and the raring could go down as well as up.
