Skateboarding On Holiday
Skateboarding provides a good workout for the whole family. While it is especially popular among teenagers, it is easy enough to learn and can be enjoyed by the whole family. No licenses or special equipment is required to go skateboarding - just you, your skateboard and some head gear.
As with any grade 2 sport, skateboarding has its share of risks which makes travel insurance an absolute must when skateboarding on holiday. Skateboarding travel insurance will protect you from any financial consequences of a sports injury or damage to sporting equipment on holiday.
Top Traveller's Tip: To protect your sports equipment and valuables on holiday, opt for our Essential Plus or Superior policy.
Skateboarding Tips and Safety Abroad
- Consider taking a basic safety course before skating on roads
- Wear protective clothing such as helmets, knee pads, and elbow pads
- Stay away from traffic until you are an experience and confident skateboarder
- Learn how to fall without injuring yourself
- Relax and roll into a fall rather than breaking a fall with your arms
- Check that your skateboard is in good working order before each ride
- Don't skateboard in tandem
- For pro skateboarders, practice and plan new tricks carefully in a safe designated area*
*Please note: we don't cover pro skateboarding: we can only offer cover for amateur or incidental skateboarding.
What Am I Covered For?
With our Superior policy and Grade 2 top-up cover, you are covered for:
- Medical emergencies and hospitalisation - up to £10 million
- Hospital benefit - up to £1000
- Personal accident - up to £20 000
- Baggage and valuables - up to £1750
All of the above also apply to injury or loss of valuables as a result of skateboarding or other Grade 2 activities.
How Do I Take Out Skateboarding Travel Insurance
Skate boarding is considered a Grade 2 risk sport. This means that there is a relatively low risk of accident and injury while skating. Still, it's best to have your travel insurance in place so you can better enjoy your vacation. We also advise that you take out our Superior Policy when taking part in sports on holiday.
Make your booking now by heading on to the quote form above and selecting Grade 2 at the bottom of the form. During step 2, you'll have the opportunity to select the Superior policy for our top-end cover.
