More On Kayaking Insurance
Recreational kayaking is a popular activity amongst tourists, as it offers a unique way of exploring the hidden treasures of your holiday destination at a leisurely pace. If you're planning on trying your hand at the sport, make sure you're protected from the unexpected by purchasing fully comprehensive Kayaking Insurance.
Whether kayaking as a single person or in tandem, across quiet lakes or rivers, as with all water-sport activities, the risk of injury is alway present. Although kayaking is relatively safe, should you fall victim to injury, the cost of treatment abroad could set you back tens of thousands of pounds.
For added peace of mind, we strongly recommend you secure adequate travel insurance before attempting to kayak, so that you can fully enjoy the sport and your holiday worry-free.
What You Need To Know
Beginner (Level 3) Kayaking is covered under our Grade 1 sports cover for runs that are designated as grade 1-3 by the International Scale of River Difficulty. This means your kayaking cover won't cost you any more than a standard policy as Grade 1 cover is free.
We also cover runs designated grade 4-5 and surf kayaking under our Grade 2 sports cover. This level of cover will also insure you for surf kayaking waves in the ocean. Both of these are of above intermediate difficulty and though the ride might be more fun it has the risk of causing injury. If you wish to kayak in runs that are over Grade 5 then you will need to purchase an insurance policy with Grade 3 sports cover. Remember that each run has it's own grading and the higher grades are considered more challenging and potentially dangerous. Make sure you purchase the correct cover before you leave and paddle away knowing we've got you covered.
Collision with boulders and other boats are a common occurrence, which may lead to severe head and body injury. For this reason, we strongly advise that the following persons DO NOT partake in this sporting activity:
- Young children
- Pregnant women
- Elderly persons
- Persons suffering from severe back or neck problems
- Persons that have previously suffered a severe injury
