European Ski Insurance

Wherever you are going in Europe, whether it is The Three Valleys, Andorra, or Eastern Europe you can choose between these three fully comprehensive Europe ski insurance polices:

• Single trip Europe ski insurance polices are valid for ski trips up to 31 days
• Annual Europe ski insurance polices allow unlimited holidays throughout the year, with the total number of days skiing not exceeding 21.
• Backpacker Europe ski insurance polices allow a continuous trip up to 12 months. Ideal if you want to spend some time skiing as part of a long trip or gap year.

Carte Neige Insurance

Carte Neige is French based insurance which will cover rescue and transportation off the slopes. It is not a full insurance policy and will not cover you for extended medical costs, repatriation, cancellation or curtailment of your holiday, baggage loss, legal expenses etc. With Carte Neige you must lodge your claims form within 7 days of your accident or your claim will be refused. It is strongly recommended that you do not solely rely on Carte Neige insurance. It is a good idea when used in conjunction with your fully comprehensive Europe ski insurance policy.

E111 Insurance

E111 insurance ceased to exist in January 2006. It has been replaced with a European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) which works on a similar basis. The card can be used in EU countries to provide free or reduced cost medical treatment. It will not cover many ski related incidents such as emergency airlift off a mountain or the costs of any treatments in private medical centres such as ski resort health centres.

You should note that the EHIC card does not include repatriation, cover you against cancellation or curtailment of your holiday, baggage loss, legal expenses etc. It is solely for medical cover in state run hospitals and if you are in a remote area of the Alps or Eastern Europe access to state run hospitals may not be extensive. It is strongly advisable to take out European ski insurance before you travel for total cover and piece of mind.
