If you are taking a trip longer than 31 days but no longer than a year, then we would recommend our backpacker's travel insurance plan (select in the quote form above). By obtaining this policy you will have access to travel insurance for more than 6 months without needing to renew your policy.

Why Take Out A Backpacker Policy?

With a backpacker's policy, you don't actually need to be backpacking, you simply need to be under the age of 45 years*. By purchasing our mid-range backpacker's cover you will receive the following benefits:

• Emergency medical and other expenses - £10 million cover
• Hospital benefit - £20 per day up to £500
• Personal accident - £20,000 maximum cover
• Personal liability - £2 million cover
• Travel delay - £20 for the first 12 hours, £10 per 12 hour period hereafter

*Please note, if you are between the ages of 45 and 74 and are intending to travel for 6 months or a year, our annual multi trip policy is a viable alternative. This covers you for multiple trips lasting between 31 - 45 days each.

• One return visit is allowed to your home country for up to 14 days (you won't be covered for this time)
• Grade 1 hazardous activities included for free
• Coverage included for non manual gap year work, such as fruit picking, bar work and au pairing

Extra Cover For The Extra Active

If you choose to pay an additional premium you also have the option of taking out additional cover which extends to winter sports or cover for adventure sports (grade 2 - 4).
