According to Cheapflights Media, the nation offers just as much as its European neighbour in terms of great stories of the past.
Turkey was recently voted favourite holiday destination in Conde Nast Traveller's 12 Annual Readers' Travel Awards.
Cheapflights Media travel expert Nadine Hallak explained that the result was unsurprising due to the nation's popularity and its "fascinating cultural history and excellent value for money".
Top sites include the biblical city of Troy, the Anatolian cities and the remains of the Ottoman Empire in Istanbul.
These, combined with a beautiful coastline and idyllic scenery, "will ensure that Turkey is always going to be a popular holiday destination", Ms Hallak said.
"Turkey will continue to grow in popularity, due to the combination of diverse cultural and historical attractions, with beautiful natural landscapes," she added.
