Bomb Threat On Thai Airways Flight

Bomb Threat On Thai Airways Flight

8 September 2010

An investigation of a Thai Airways flight from Bangkok to Los Angeles is underway, following a bomb threat that was found on the plane's lavatory mirror.

Flight 794 was carrying 171 passengers and 18 crew when the threatening message was found "scrawled on the lavatory mirror" in "poorly worded English", said authorities.

After landing safely at Los Angeles International Airport, the plane was taken to a remote area of the airport, where passengers and crew were asked to exit. The FBI and LA police then questioned those on board at the time of the incident, and proceeded with a thorough safety inspection.

18 fire engines were on standby when the plane landed. Bomb technicians were sent to search the plane whilst luggage was sent to be screened.

The FBI said that there does not appear to be evidence that there was a bomb on board the flight. Despite this, the bureau said it would be "taking all precautions and conducting a thorough investigation to render the plane safe."
