Belfast City Airport- George Best Airport (BHD) Information

Introduction

Belfast City Airport now also known as George Best Airport is second in the region to Belfast International Airport in passenger traffic. Approximately 1.75 million passengers utilise Belfast City Airport each year, travelling to and from major cities throughout the UK: notably London, Birmingham, Newcastle, Manchester, Leeds, Southampton, Bristol, Liverpool, Edinburgh and Glasgow. The airport is situated 5kms east of Belfast city centre. A new terminal building was completed in 2001.

Airport parking at Belfast City

The short-stay car park is situated adjacent to the terminal, on the right-hand side after entering the airport property. The main (long-stay) car park is beyond the terminal, and is served by a courtesy shuttle bus. Fees in both car parks are €0.75 (£0.50) for the first 15 minutes. In the short-stay car park, fees are then €4.50 (£3) per hour, with a daily rate of €27 (£18). For long-stay parking, fees are €10.50 (£7) per day and €48 (£32) per week, with a daily charge of €3.75 (£2.50) thereafter. Both car parks are overseen by security personnel 24 hours a day.

Getting to and from Belfast City

If driving from Belfast city centre, take the Sydenham Bypass (A2). From north, west and south of the city, travel on the M1 or M2 towards Bangor. A shuttle bus service operates between the terminal and the railway station at Sydenham. Twice-hourly rail service runs to Belfast's Central and Victoria Street Stations (fare, €1.50). Airlink buses depart every 20 minutes from the airport terminal to Belfast's Europa Bus Centre in the heart of the city. The service operates between 6:00 and 21:50, and costs €3 (£2) round-trip. Approved taxis depart from a taxi rank situated outside the arrivals hall. The approximate cost to Belfast city centre is €9 (£6).

Amenities at Belfast City Airport

Two ATMs and a bureau de change are located on the ground floor of the terminal. A perfume shop and a newsagent/gift shop can be found on the ground floor. Food and refreshments are served at a restaurant and bar on the first floor, and at a sandwich bar and coffee shop on the ground floor. For business travellers, fully-equipped meeting rooms and conference rooms are available on the first floor.
