Travel to Nice
The grande dame of the French riviera, Nice is the indisputable hub of the Cote d'Azur, if not the whole south of France.
The gateway to Cannes, St Tropez, Monaco et al, Nice is also a major crowd-puller in its own right. Beach-side life has rarely been so chic, which is why many of the great and good have made their home here, from F. Scott Fitzgerald and Matisse to, er ... Elton John and Keith Richards. Be warned though, the beaches here are pebbly - if you're looking for sand, head on to Villefranche-sur-Mer, Cannes or Antibes.
Some come for the extraordinary colours of the Mediterranean sea, others for the fabulous Provencal cooking and the chance to wander down the historic Promenade des Anglais, to visit the many museums and follow in the footsteps of famous artists ... but whatever your reason for visiting, you're on to a winner.
