Travelling To Larnaca
The most convenient way to get to Larnaca is to fly into its international airport, which is located just five kilometres from the city centre. You can also arrive by sea from a number of different ports around the Mediterranean and the city is connected to the rest of Cyprus, Italy and beyond by bus.
By car
If you are driving your car to Cyprus by ferry, it will be easy to find your way to Larnaca no matter which port city you land at. The island's central motorway passes through all the major towns and Larnaca is one of the major crossroads.
By bus
The bus terminal in Larnaca extends along the entire length of Leoforos Athinon avenue, which is the town's main seaside promenade. Buses arrive and depart to all of the major cities in Cyprus several times each day. The two main bus companies on the island are Kallenos and EMAN. By air
Larnaca International Airport, located five kilometres southwest of the city, is the largest airport on Cyprus. While there are no direct flights between the United States and Cyprus, British Airways and Cyprus Airways provide direct service from London to Larnaca. Cyprus Airways also runs flights from Manchester and many other European and Mediterranean cities. KLM flies direct from Amsterdam and Swissair from Zurich. There are also several direct connections with various cities in Turkey, handled by a number of Turkish and Cypriot carriers. Transportation from the airport to the city centre is provided by taxi, shuttle bus or private shuttles arranged by hotels.
By ferry
Although shipping lines no longer use Larnaca, apart from the occasional cruise ship, the city can still be accessed by private yacht or water taxi from Ayia Napa. Ferries making the 1-hour crossing from Ayia Napa depart several times each day, and the schedule is available on the marina pier at Captain George (tel: +357 04 653 110).
Ferries regularly run from Turkey to Northern Cyprus, from where you can then take a bus to Larnaca. Passenger ships also connect Larnaca with a number of Greek, Italian, Egyptian and Middle Eastern ports.
