Travel to Croatia

Although once plagued by wars and tragedies, Croatia is a rising tourist destination. The country has such charms as excellent weather and beaches, along with ancient Roman ruins.

The capital of Croatia, Zagreb, has a rich history and is ripe with medieval remains, museums and galleries. All the major attractions are within easy walking distance of the city centre, including remains of the neo-Gothic Cathedral of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary and St Marks Church.

Split is a large, industrial city on the Adriatic coast, offering a wealth of historic attractions. One of the most impressive Roman ruins in the world, Diocletians Palace, is located here. Alternatively, Dubrovnik is an ancient town surrounded by impressive 25-metre high city walls. It has a relaxed atmosphere, with marble-paved squares, steep cobbled streets, stone churches and palaces.

Croatia is also home to the stunning Dalmatian coast, where visitors flock for the sunshine and scenery. Rovinj is a sleepy fishing town on the coast of Istria. Here, you can admire the pretty landscape and stroll along cobbled streets and forested hills. One of the most important archaeological sites in Croatia is comprised of the ancient city of Solin, northeast of Split.
