Shanghai Pudong International Airport (PVG) information

Introduction

Shanghai Pudong International Airport is located roughly 19 miles east of Shanghai city centre and 25 miles from Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport, with Pudong accounting for almost 60 per cent of all Shanghai aircraft movements. The airport is a major Chinese transportation hub, handling close to 50 domestic and international airlines, which provide transportation to roughly 60 internal destinations and more than 70 foreign destinations.

Airport parking at Shanghai

A three-level parking facility offering more than 3,000 parking spaces and a surface parking lot for both long and short-term parking are both conveniently positioned in front of the terminal building.

Getting to and from Shanghai

Pudong International is linked to Shanghai via Yingbin road, which passes through the airport before joining the city's outer ring road. The outer ring road also leads from Pudong Airport to Hongqiao Airport. To the west of Pudong International, Fareast road joins up with the inner ring road, leading directly to Shanghai city centre. The ultra-fast Maglev train provides transportation from the airport to Longyang Metro Station, from where travellers can get train connections to all over Shanghai and its surrounds. Buses run from the station along five different routes, terminating at Hong Qiao Airport, Shanghai Exhibition Centre, Zunyi road, Dongjiagwan road and Shanghai Railway Station. Taxis leave from outside the terminal building, travelling to a wide range of regional locations.

Shanghai Pudong Airport is efficiently organised and well-equipped with a wide selection of passenger facilities and services. An array of restaurants, coffee shops and bars provide meals and drinks. Shopping opportunities are plentiful, with a shopping mall located on the terminal's third level and a duty-free section situated in the Departures area.

Baby-changing and feeding facilities are available, and a pharmacy situated in the mall stocks basic medical and health provisions. There is lost property and left luggage facilities at International Arrivals, while transit beds are available per hour for passengers that have long waiting periods between connecting flights. A bank, ATMs and exchange counters are available at the terminal as well as widespread telephones, internet cafés and a post office.
