Whistler Entertainment

After a long day on the slopes, Whistler offers a broad variety of entertainment options, ranging from cinemas and activities for the young to bars, pubs and live music running until the small hours of the morning.

Nightlife

Whistler's nightlife is legendary and the clubs rock until the early hours seven days a week. Mountain views and ample patio space are characteristics of Whistler's favourite après spots. Typically, there's live music and plenty of people when the lifts close. Whether it's location, music, food or atmosphere that's important, there's an après spot in Whistler to fit any skier or snowboarder's fancy.

The nightlife in Whistler has become almost as famous as the skiing and snowboarding on Whistler Blackcomb Mountains. With internationally famous DJs to ensure a vibrant live music scene, Whistler has something for all ages and tastes. If something quieter is more to your liking, then Whistler offers many lounges and pubs, which will serve you a refreshing pint or a perfect martini.

Theatre and music

Maurice Young Millennium Place is Whistler's 2,090 square metres all-round gathering place that hosts music concerts, film premieres, theatre, seminars and much more.

Whistler Theatre Project (WTP) is a groundbreaking new venture that will bring professional summer theatre to the residents and visitors of Whistler, with its classical, musical and contemporary repertoire. WTP was created to entertain, enlighten, inspire and bring audiences the magic of theatre through a unique and memorable outdoor experience. All productions will be staged outdoors, under an open-backed tent.

The town is also home to some excellent musical talent and it brings in some of the country's top musicians for entertainment. The 20-something's and the slightly older crowd happily co-exist on crowded dance floors at the bars in Village Square and Village North. DJs here spin everything from 1980s classics to house beats to big-band swing. The live music scene is equally vibrant, highlighted each summer by the Whistler Arts and Music Festival.

Festivals

There are a number of annual festivals that are unique to the resort, with highlights including:

  • The Whistler Film Festival brings top Canadian films to Whistler in an exciting four-day event each December. Throughout the year, the Whistler Film Society offers film fans exciting content at interesting venues.
  • The Weetama Festival is a showcase of the arts and culture of the region's First Nations communities. Traditional drums, dances and songs as well as artisan workshops with a focus on education and fun are on offer. Films featuring aboriginal heritage, history and culture are shown (August).
  • The Telus World Ski and Snowboard Festival is a mixture of Olympic champions, freestyle legends, extreme ski stars and pro tour guns. Action packed events, live entertainment, outdoor celebrations and some fantastic skiing and snowboarding (April).
  • The Canadian Free Skiing Championship hosts some of the world's top skiers. Whistler Blackcomb's terrain is the staging ground for events, which are judged for line choice, fluidity, control, form and aggressiveness. Over 100 competitors vie for the title (January).
