Melbourne Weather
Melbourne enjoys a pleasantly temperate climate, where the weather is never unbearably hot or cold. Most of the year, the weather is warm, with only the winter months resembling anything like cold weather. Rain tends to fall unpredictably throughout the year, but never in annoying quantities. The seasons in Melbourne are clearly defined, adding to the beauty of this city.
Opposite Seasons
Due to its location in the southern hemisphere, Melbourne's summer comes between December and February. This is the warmest time of the year, with occasional hot spells and consistently fine weather. The occasional thunderstorm may roll through to wash things off and boost the humidity, but the skies usually clear quickly. Winter isn't bad either, with generally mild temperatures just cool enough to be pleasant.
Sunny Disposition
With over 300 days of sunshine every year, Melbourne is one of the most reliable places to take a holiday. The city also receives about half the annual rainfall that neighbouring Sydney and Brisbane receive, adding to its appeal. The autumn months of March through May bring stunning weather, with fine days and cool nights. Spring is also lovely, as the wildflowers burst into life, and although rainfall is most common during this time of year, it's rarely prolonged.
