Darwin Weather

Darwin has a tropical climate with distinct wet and dry seasons. For six months of the year, the city enjoys a climate which is difficult to beat anywhere in the world.

Dry Season

Darwin's weather is wonderful from May to September. The days are mild and the nights are balmy and cool. This is the dry season, when the days are typified by gentle southeast trade winds and blue skies prevail. The coolest months of the year are June and July, when the daily temperature range is from 19°C to 30°C. The hottest months are October and November, when daily temperatures reach between 25°C and 33°C degrees.

Wet Season

January and February is the heart of the wet season, when monsoon weather means heavy afternoon and overnight rain. Waterfalls swell and wetlands flood, turning the countryside green. Average temperatures range from 24°C minimum to 32°C maximum. The humidity during the wet season is regularly over 70 per cent. Despite this, many locals prefer the green and special beauty during this time to that of the dry season.
