One Hour to Save The Earth

This morning I received a press release from the Tokyo Shangri-La hotel about how all non-essential lights in the hotel would be turned off to help fight global warming between 8.30-9.30pm on March 28.

My first reaction was scepticism - that this was just another gimmick to publicise the hotel. But then I saw it was part of the World Wildlife Fund's Earth Hour 2009 campaign - and so far 20,888 businesses are taking part worldwide, including the Great Pyramids at Giza.

The idea is that you vote - with your light switch - between global warming or saving the earth - and the results will be presented at the Global Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen 2009. Simplistic, maybe, but worth a shot, don't you think?
