Holiday deals... Spring Bank Holiday & Half Term

Roll up, roll up, roll up for the second bank holiday weekend this month - yes, May 23-25 - and half term, all mixed into one (sort of). If the weather predictions are anything to go by (we're in for a long, hot summer - they've promised) then it's going to be a corker. But here at EssentialTravel.co.uk we realise that sometimes there's nothing you need more than a bit of guaranteed sun. The weather may be no more reliable than here but Lastminute.com can promise a good craic - it's offering 20% off two nights at the Burlington Hotel, Dublin, which has a 20% off for two nights deal going (starting from £58 per night) over the bank holiday. Thinking of further afield? Packages on offer include seven nights in Marmaris, Turkey, from £699, and seven nights in the Algarve, Portual, from £469.

Monarch Holidays also has some good last minute bargains with seven nights in Gran Canaria from £315, among others. Staying with the Canaries, Thomas Cook has seven nights in Tenerife from £454, or seven nights in Gran Canaria from £373.

Co-operative Travel's late deals include seven nights in Rhodes, Greece, from £150, and seven nights in the Costa del Sol from £348 per person, while First Choice is offering one week in Cyprus from £327 per person or one week on the Costa Blanca or Costa Dorada from £188 or £179 respectively.

And finally, if you were looking to go still further away, you might want to consider Kuoni. Bank holiday and half term deals include seven nights in Pattaya, Thailand, from £738; seven nights in the Maldives from £808 per person, and four nights in Cairo, Egypt, from £531.
