Easter Egg Hunt 2010

Following on from our recent Easter Craft Events blog, see below for a round up of the best Easter egg hunts around the country. There's nothing like chocolate to keep the kids happy!

The National Trust & Cadbury, various dates
We're not in the habit of promoting brands here at Essential Travel, but what would Easter be without Cadbury? Lucky for kids, the chocolate maker has teamed up with The National Trust to create chocolaty trails at a raft of estates as far and wide as Aberdeen and Cornwall, Kent and Wales. Trails vary in size: some venues will be hosting a games area with egg and spoon races, 'nest Ball', football, hula-hooping and more, while others will offer face painting. For a comprehensive list, see www.eastereggtrails.com.

Battersea Park Zoo, Apr 2-Apr 5
If you were planning on visiting Battersea Park Zoo this weekend, then the prospect just got a bit more exciting. The zoo animals are said to be guarding chocolate eggs... all you need to do is pick up a quiz card on entry, follow the clues along the trail and hunt for the prize! See www.batterseaparkzoo.co.uk for more information.

Beatrix Potter Easter Egg Hunt, March 31
This one is great if you want to get your little ones out into the countryside. It's the biggest Easter egg hunt in the UK with 100 eggs hidden in the rural county of Cumbria. Looking for them may sound like a daunting prospect, but the eggs are worth finding: prizes include family tickets to the World Of Beatrix Potter, a stay at Low Wood Hotel and a copy of The Peter Rabbit Easter Egg Hunt book. See www.golakes.co.uk for more information and to download a egg hunt map on the day.

The Big Kid Easter Hunt, Apr 3
Children need not apply to this rather adult hunt. Designed by interactive games specialist The Go Game and performance collective Bearded Kitten, the hunt takes place on the Southbank. All you need is a mobile phone (to follow the clues) and a team of 3-8 people. See www.thegogame.com for more information.
