Belfast Airport Parking Bomb Scare

A car bomb that sat undiscovered for a whole year in a vehicle at Q PARK - a long term parking facility at Belfast International Airport - was revealed this week.

Q Park could neither confirm or deny this, because the vehicle was not pre-registered. 'It had just been sitting there a very long time,' someone said. Within 24 hours the situation was diffused (so to speak), and the premises declared safe again.

At first, this sounds like a terrifying sign of the times. Just mentioning the B-word at an airport is enough to get you thrown in detention for hours of questioning. Everyone becomes a suspect when national security is at risk. But there is a silver lining here:

It's great to know that you can leave your car at long term facility for a full year and not worry about it getting stolen. 10 points for Q Park security.
