Birmingham Airport Directions

Birmingham International airport is located to the East of the city, lying off the M42 and A45. It is easily accessible from all directions and by all means of transport. It is directly linked to Birmingham International train station by 90-second monorail.

Birmingham International airport sits at the hub of the English motorway network and the centre of the country. As a result it is easy to drive to, being just off junction 6 of the M6 which is easily accessible from the M1, M5, M6 Toll and M40. Here are some directions for the most commonly used routes.

From the North West: Take the M6 and exit at junction 4A onto the M42 signposted for London and Solihull. At junction 6 of the M42 take the A45 and follow signs for the airport.

From the North East: From the M42, come off at junction 6 onto the A45 and follow signs for the airport.

South: Take the M40 and exit at junction 4A onto the M42 signposted for London and the M1. Come off the M42 at junction 6 onto the A45 and follow signs for the airport.

South West: Take the M5 for Birmingham and exit at junction 4A onto the M42 signposted for Birmingham. Come off onto the A45 at junction 6 and follow signs to the airport.

South East: Take the M1 towards Birmingham and the Midlands and then leave for the M6 and junction 19. From here come off at junction 4 onto the M42 signposted for Birmingham/Solihull. Leave the M42 at junction 6 and follow signs on the A45 for the airport.
